Culture & Traditions -Sikkim
Sikkim is a unique blend of different religion, customs and traditions of different communities.
The cultural beauty of Sikkim highlights the brilliant blend of Buddhist tradition from Tibet and Nepali tradition from Nepal. Sikkimese culture is regarded as one of the most admired cultures of the country. Both the originals of the state and the migrated ones reside here at Sikkim and they are known as Sikkimese people. However, out of everything one thing is common about them and that is the respect and pride towards the ancient culture. The main three tribes of Sikkim are Lepchas, Bhutias and Nepalese, these all people have a huge belief in their traditions. The festivals and historical monuments are the two main things that highlight the richness of Sikkimese culture. Nepali is the most frequently spoken language of the state and Lepchas are the oldest resident of the state and they either follow Buddhism or Christianity. Everything is done in a cultural way at Sikkim including the birth, death and marriage of a person and Sikkimese people still wears their traditional dress as part of their culture during various occasions.
